DoReMi

Being a foreign teacher, it is an unwritten rule that I'm a walking advertisement for the school. From time to time, I have to subject myself to complete and utter humiliation through "performances by the foreigner." Think of a freak show. Yup, that's what I do. On the 26th of June, my students I were tasked to sing "Do Re Mi" (Doe a deer a female deer. Ray, a drop of golden sun...) from "The Sound of Music" in front of a crowd that had gathered... I don't even know where that was. Anyway, here are the pictures to document our embarrassment.

  3. Waaaah! I'm Maria, alright. "How do you solve a problem like Maria?" No video. And I can't even play the guitar so there's no use holding one.

  7. Oh no, Sachin, you wouldn't want to hear me singing. Trust me. I sang the first part alone. After that, I handed the mic to the kid to my left (refer to 5th and last pictures), and we all sang together. Singing happily? Now that's where my being Pinoy comes in. The Pinoys are a loud laughing people. We laugh at everything, most especially ourselves. If one is caught in a situation where one is left with no choice, s/he would shrug and laugh it off. That's how we cope.

Teach this art to indians who dont smile and laugh that much. We will be grateful.
