I'm keeping myself busy: fulltime office work, language teaching at the Bridge around two nights per week, freelance writing for the UP Law Center, the novel. Whenever I find the time, I sit in Spanish and Chinese classes too. Next in line are piano and arnis lessons. My friend who teaches piano (and is willing to teach me for free!) is still juggling his schedule to accommodate me. (Nice, nice person. That's why I still believe that the world is populated by nice people.) And I'm still looking for an arnis training center in the Makati area, preferrably within walking distance from Rufino St. Holler if you know of any.
So there.
A part of me is giddy because I like being busy and feeling productive. Plus I get to do things that I've always planned on doing (like learning Spanish!).
Another part of me wants to sleep.

ReplyDeletekelangan ko basahin o kelanagan ko bilhin pag na-publish na? kahit draft okey lang. i've been in the MFA program by the way. just kinda miss the old lit loons now in grad school. i'm sure you've noticed i'm merely a "lurker" (your words), pero nakakatawa entries mo e. oh and Safety Queen. remember that old Nickelodeon cartoon? one of your lit block/batchmates (can't remember her name...) and i used to call you that. behind your back obviously. but meant entirely in good nature and devoid of malice.
ReplyDeleteWaaaa! You have to explain to me the context of that Safety Queen nickname. Mga loko kayo ah! You have to remember who she is dahil patay siya sa akin. At oo, kailangan mong bumili pag na-publish na. Um, medyo nahihiya pa ko to let people read the draft e. Pangit pa siya. Hopefully, gaganda siya later on, later on in life, ganun.

(i never expected such a violent reaction.) matanda na ata ako e kaya di mo na alam yun. magtanong ka sa kakilala mong mga early 30's kung alam nila yun. i'm talking about old school Nickelodeon (panahon pa ng Adventures of Pete & Pete, etc.), where there used to be these short comical infomercials on safety. kunyari may batang naglalaro near broken glass, dadating bigla si Safety Queen (complete with dramatic intro jingle "Safety Queeeeeeen!") to remedy the situation, act goofy and/or give tips on, well, safety. yun. parang ganun ka e. plus medyo kamukha mo din. don't worry, that kind of cred ought to break you into the top 5 of the Office List easy.
di ko talaga maalala kuyng sino yun e. but i'll come clean. ako nagsabi na parang ikaw si Safety Queen, tapos sumang-ayon lang sya. peace.
Actually, I can now vaguely remember someone telling me about this Safety Queen bit. Di ko lang maalala kung ikaw nga yun basta parang there was a time nga when I was practicing pa yung "Safety Queeeeeen!" tapos tinatanong ko yung mga tao kung tama ba pagkakanta ko kasi di ko pa nga napapanood si Safety Queen. At ikaw pala ang promotor nun! Pero sino yung kasama mo pa? What does she look like? Si Corky ba? Bob?
