I have, at any given moment, at least three unused notebooks of different sizes, thickness, paper quality, etc. in my possession. At least. I'm pretty sure I have more. The point is, I definitely do not need another one.
But I want it.
It's not even a notebook of any remarkable quality. It's as ordinary as can be: lined, of average size (maybe a bit smaller), of average thickness (maybe a bit thicker). "A normal notebook," in fact, was how I described it to a friend while trying to convince her to have coffee or tea with me.
So it is nothing but pure madness. I have fallen prey into this marketing scheme that seeks nothing more than to make me part with my hard-earned money is what happened. And as with most obssessions, it leaves one helpless. It certainly does not help that I pass by the coffee shop going to and from work everyday.
Of course it is not that I lack excuses to hang out in this particular coffee shop. I get to have some alone time, for one. That is, of course, always good for the writing. Or if not, I get to hang out with friends (whom of course I've tricked into having coffee or tea so I could have one stamp more in my little card) and get to catch up on each other's lives. Besides I am working three different jobs. I deserve an occasional cup of coffee if that's what I want. And yes, that's what I want.
I am eight stamps away from the much coveted notebook. If you're in the area and would like to have coffee or tea, remember to give me a call. I just might be available.
i thought this was a notebook computer.
ReplyDeleteIt would have been a bit more understandable if it was.
ReplyDeleteI know the feeling. I always carry around a notebook. They come handy when I'm in some place and suddenly an idea comes to mind. Also, I like sitting around and describing the things around me. It beats boredom, hehe... Sometimes, these notes end up in my fiction.
ReplyDeleteme want coffee. but dapat libre mo...its 4 ur notebook anyways =) hehehe
ReplyDeletecoffee bean planner ba ito? maganda ba? i'm starting to allot stress time for my 2008 planner na nga e. alam mo namang importante sakin ang planner ko. we need to have a connection since we'll be spending the whole year together.
ReplyDeleteNo, Nuna. It's not a planner. It's just a notebook. An ordinary notebook. But yes, it's from Coffee Bean. Besides, I already have a planner. A home-made one at that. Teeheehee!
ReplyDeletei don't have a planner for next year yet and november's almost over! :((
ReplyDeleteMake one yourself!
:P husgahan natin bukas hehehe
ReplyDeleteAba! Napakakulay kaya ng sa akin! Siguro sayo maliit lang.
ReplyDeletehahaha! gawa nyo na lang ako. :D
ReplyDeleteHindi pwede. Kailangan talaga may personal touch ang mga ganyan. Kanya-kanyang gawa yan tapos labanan. Parang anak mo yan e. Tapos magpapayabangan kayo kung anong honor ng anak niyo. Hahaha!
ReplyDeletebut, but, but...
ReplyDeletesaka nuna -- masyadong matrabaho at stressful ang gumawa ng planner... next year bibili na lang ako sa national, un mga tig 100 - 200.... less stress pa hehehe
ReplyDeleteWe should make a multiply notebook fanatic members site!
ReplyDeleteLet's! But no, I want a real notebook that would be available to Multiply fanatics. Let's design it! Um, I'm not good with graphics though...
ReplyDeletetoo. much. hassle. (yes, i'm lazy.)
ReplyDeleteI think I'm going to make it a project. Or at least something like it. A personalized notebook complete with everything that makes me happy. Soon, soon.
ReplyDeleteThat is really exciting - a digital notebook community! .... that officially makes me a nerd.
ReplyDeletehaha!
ReplyDeleteBut we've always known you're a nerd.
ReplyDeleteOn a related note, I found out last week that of my four high school best friends, three of them are also collecting stamps/stickers to get freebies from coffee shops. Nels and Virge are collecting for the Starbucks planner while Honey patronizes Seattle's Best. Seattle's Best indeed has the best deal of all three. It's giving away a tote bag, a mug, a planner, among other things for only ten stickers.
ReplyDeleteI got to talking with my officemate about this (she's a Starbucker) and so I could tell her exactly what things Seattle's is giving away, I googled away and found this: http://manila.metblogs.com/archives/2007/11/battle_of_the_c.phtml
If only there's Seattle's Best near here....
lugi ka lang ng 300 pesos... best deal nga :)
ReplyDeleteI get that too, only its with sketch pads. Every couple of months, I suddenly 'decide' I'm taking up the pencils again, so it's off to the news-agent/bookstore for a sketch pad (MUST be leather bound, although I don't know why I insist on that...), as many different grades of graphite as I can get my paws on, and a couple of black felt tips between .2mm and .5mm for the rare occasion when a drawing actually reaches the point where I might want to do the line-work. If I'm very lucky, I might even get a drawing done before boredom or the lack of time kicks in and the pile of mechanical and ye ol' school pencils, erasers, scalpels, and other bits and pieces get lost in the chaos of my disorganised world.
ReplyDeleteI kinda wanna draw now... brb :-)
Put it on Multiply when you're done!
ReplyDeleteUPDATE: I already got my notebook. I think I might still have time to get another one. ;)
ReplyDeletedapat get d seattles naman kc mas madami yun =)
ReplyDeleteKaso there isn't any near my office e. Tapos the one in Greenbelt is being renovated pa. Sayang nga e.
