New House

Also from Andy. My 10-year-old student gave the name. It means GrayGray.

My new house. I'll be sharing it with a new Pinay teacher pretty soon. I'm dreading it because I like living alone. Oh well.

  1. on the whole, it looks bigger, nicer, cleaner, newer, better. is it farther from the school and city? do all the furniture come with it? so you don't need your table and chair after all?

  2. Size-wise, this is smaller. I didn't take a picture of the living room in the old house because it's just a big empty space. Yes, fully furnished but I still brought the chair and table. The chair is now part of the first study area which is actually in the dining room. I put the table on the foot of my bed and serves as my bedroom-study-area-which-also doubles-as-my-dining-area-if-I-want-to-eat-in-the-bedroom. Oh, no fridge. I'm still haggling for a new small one. It looks cleaner becaue I've only been here for three days. Not enough time to make a mess yet. Give me a week.

TieLing is a very small city so everything is just at most half an hour away, by bus. The old place is near the south branch of the school. This is near the north branch. I haven't checked out which bus passes by this route though. I'll have to do that later or tomorrow. I'm too cheap for taxis.

  4. Thanks Michnikin.

Yes, Karlo. And I already bought myself a tabo on my way home today. I'll take pictures and send them to you ASAP.

  5. Olive, by that do you mean I'm figuratively home because of the tabo? Because I AM still in China.

  9. Sorry, Sandy. I was out last night. The plan was to be back home after an hour but it stretched until 3am. I'll try not to fall asleep while teaching today. I have no idea why you weren't able to reach me. My phone was on the whole time. Was the message in Chinese? I moved because the headmaster is contemplating on marriage and he'll live in my old place once he "starts his own family."

  10. I have a floor? What do you mean? It is a nice place. :)

  11. Just saying: I don't have a floor in my place, just nasty bare concrete...so I'm jealous. It is a nice place. You have things like cupboards whereas I stack my dishes on in inverted box in the corner of the kitchen. You have a bathroom that isn't, well, scary like mine is. The little steps up to the bedrooms are really cool. A dining table!

    Now I want to move.

  13. Hahaha! I don't really mind living in a less than ideal place. But since the headmaster is paying for this, then he'd better provide me with a house that I would look forward to going home to each day. And I rarely use the dining table for dining purposes...

  14. Less than ideal!!! Are you mad? You're living like an emperor!

  15. Karlo, neither. Although I'd love to play mahjong with the Chinese. My mom taught me before but I'm not sure if it's played the same way here. As for pusoy dos, I'll have to gather enough pinoys to be able to play that. At least two people have tried teaching me poker, though. Isn't pusoy dos the pinoy version of poker? Because I've always been under the impression that it is. Anyway, I think I'm too stupid to learn poker. Always confuses me.

Jason, I know, I know! What I meant was, if I have to pay for it myself, I won't mind living in a rathole. But since I don't have to, then it has to be nice. Hehehe!

Uh, the dining table is like my storge counter. I still don't have a fridge so everything ends up there.

  17. First, it's not MY house as in I own it. It's just mine as in I'm living in it. I'll be leaving this city in about a month so unless you guys come within that time period, I will most probably not be living here anymore. If you do come to China though, you'll always be welcome to stay in my place, wherever part of China that might be. Same goes to the rest of the block. ;)
