Bargaining at the Pearl Market

The Pearl Market is one of the famous shopping places in Beijing. I found it by accident. I was on my way to my job interview when I passed by it in a cab. I made a mental note to go back and look around after the interview. So, dysmenorrhea notwithstanding, I went ahead and explored the place. Here is a video when I was bargaining for a cheongsam.

  3. Thanks! Oh wait, did you just compliment the camera and not me? If you want to buy anything in China, be sure to take me along. Troy and I were just in the antique market today. The most he was willing to pay for an "antique" (of course it's not really antique) wooden box was 500rmb. I told him I could get it down to 200. I did. The box is now sitting on the living room table.

  5. Hmm, good idea. He didn't really think the woman would agree to 200. Sabi nya, "sobra naman yata ang 200." Sabi ko, "watch."

  8. o my gosh! you were GREAT! I never though you could actually bring down the price that much! and to think if I were the one there, I would have given in if they cut the price to half... But thinking about it now, doesn't that mean these chinese people actually sell more than 4x the item's real price?!! That's kinda scary... I better remember those lines..."不行, 不行,太贵” ... ^_^.

  9. Hahaha! Thank you, thank you. *bows. I actually have more vocabulary for bargaining that I wasn't able to use that time. It's so much fun that I want to make a better bargaining video soon.
