Or The Palace Museum. I don't really know the difference. Anyway, I spent my last day in downtown Beijing going to The Forbidden City (or again, it could have been the Palace Museum. Please don't think I'm very very stupid). It was huge, as expected. I got lost. It rained. I got soaked to my skin. Oh well. It was fun too.
pretty!
ReplyDeleteum, is this supposed to be a testament to some important historical event or is it just a pretty giant rock formation?
ReplyDeletei thought star fishes then i enlarged it and now i'm thinking, squiggly worms.
ReplyDeleteUm, I don't know. I was looking for some sort of explanation too. I didn't find any.
ReplyDeleteYes, like cemented worms. Or maybe a coral. Nah, worms.
China is so beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI want to see it before it's not there anymore, if you know what I mean. In a lot of regions, neighborhoods that have stood for centuries are being consumed by gaudy pink apartment complexes and bizarre-looking towers, all in the name of being "modern". Museums and the like are wonderful, but I want to see something old and real, too, something that has truly stood the test of time instead of being preserved and turned into a tourist attraction.
I know exactly what you mean. Today's China has become a big construction site. It's like there's a race to build the tallest building, the biggest mall, etc. It is still beautiful but yes, it'll be nice if you can come before it's just a shadow of its old self.
