I took these out of boredom. The first part was when I was waiting for the rest of the team to get all their luggage from the airport. Let me tell you that it's not easy travelling on air with a group of people carrying guns in this age when terrorism is a houseword.
And then I felt the need for an internet patch as I suffered from withdrawal symptoms. Imagine an internet addict not having an internet connection for three whole days. Thus the bathroom video.
So yes, I'm in Shanghai. Still alive. It's funny how my existence is now gauged on how often I update my site. So this is just something for you to chew on while I catch up with the rest of your cyberlives. More updates soon.
wow. no tabo and no balde?
ReplyDeleteWelcome to real asia!!
ReplyDeleteWell you are suppose to take a "BUCKET WASH".
So you fill the plastic bucket(s) with water, use a mug to pour water over you.. simple and efficient. Well, this is pretty common in India too. Well, sitting under tap is not a nice idea if it is too low.......
Well if it is 30 degs outside, then why do you need hot water? Do you want to be a boiled potato or do you wish to peel off your skin to get a new skin ???
Happy touring!
Hello Joni, thank you for showing me Schanghai, Ms. Zhou said it changed rapidly, her grandmother needed orientation and so it was the sunday afternoon special on China in Arte, features on real persons in China, you would have made well. Today we had a hailstorm and cold, you would not have that too here, Germany goes to early autumn.
ReplyDeleteCool in-your-face reality TV. You're supposed to use a takure for your hot water needs. I'd go for the balde-tabo combo rather than squeeze myself under the faucet. You might make your head untog pa if ever. =P
ReplyDeletei think your housing has just been downgraded!
ReplyDeleteSachya, i need hot water even if it's 38 degrees outside! Go figure! :)
No hot water was the 1st thing I noticed when the video showed only 1 faucet and nothing else!
Joni, Janice is right, your housing has been downgraded big time! At least its not a squat toilet hehe, so how did you take a bath? :P
ReplyDeleteSigh. And I thought Shanghai would be an upgrade. Oh well. I was told that the housing in Guangzhou is the best so there's still something to look forward to.
ReplyDeleteThe first few times, I got under the faucet and well, used it as a shower. There's a newer building that has better bathrooms but I can only move there on the 10th. Long story. Anyway, the assistant team manager's solution for me was to go to that building for showers. Then he remembered that there's a nearer building with hot showers too, so he said I could also go there. The thing is that's only open from 5-7pm. I'm way too lazy to go to other buildings just to take showers anyway so what I do, as suggested by XiaoDing, is get hot water from this little place on the other end of the hall and pretty much do the balde-tabo combo. My water bottle is now demoted to a tabo.
Janice, hot water in 38 degrees!
ReplyDeleteDo you really live in Coastal Manila region with humid climate? hehehe!!
Well, in that case if you happen to land up in Stockholm, then you will occupy bathroom(shower cubical to be specific) for hours, as being under warm shower with unlimited warm to hot water will for sure take you to Nirvana!!
Joni, need is mother of all inventions.:) I just keep on wondering how do you really use the water bottle as tabo......?? Its too much pain to first fill it every time and then to empty it on you is another pain. :).. Take a DRY CLEANING PILL instead. :))
Wait, I just realized that I used the wrong word. It's not a balde, it's a planggana. A small planggana, even. I'm not really sure but this might even be hotter than Manila summers.
ReplyDeleteAchi Janice is in NY right now so I'm sure she takes advantage of the unlimited warm water especially during the colder seasons. Though I can remember how she would still heat water up no matter what the weather was in Manila.
your banyo is so minimalist. :P
ReplyDeleteI know!
ReplyDeletethat's a nice way to put it, jona.
ReplyDeleteHi Joni,
